Hunting and Fishing opportunities are plentiful throughout the MacKenzie rivers,lakes and hills. It you would like us to organize a fishing trip, or go for a hunt for small or large game during your stay, then just ask us. Half or full day tours and hunts are available at very reasonable rates. We will also prepare and cook your catch for you in a traditional manner and serve your catch with a delicious meal.
If your not interested in hunting and fishing but would like to see the area more closely, half and full day tours can be organized to visit the mighty Godley and McCauley rivers, or you can visit the beautiful Delta of the Tekapo River or stunning Lake Ohau. The possibilities are endless. Talk to us about it and we can advise you as to which area is best on the day. Seasonal variations and weather can exclude some areas at short notice. With our local knowledge we can always find an interesting alternative for you that will be one of the high points of your trip to the Mackenzie country/ Aoraki Mt Cook area.

Head of Lake Tekapo, Godley and McCauley river expedition.
Variation 1. Half day scenery and photo expedition.
Half day trip to the top of the lake with morning tea provided on the lake shore. View Lake Tekapo from the top and the stunning McCauley and Godley Rivers. The breath taking scenery at the head of lake Tekapo will give you a taste of New Zealand's remote high alpine areas. 4 hours. $85 per person, Minimum 2 persons. Mornings or afternoons by arrangement.
Variation 2 Full Day scenery and photo expedition.
Explore the headwaters of the Godly or the MacCauly and view stunning mountain scenery that few visitors ever get to see. Take an easy stroll into one of the side valleys and observe the wildlife with out high powered spotting equipment. Morning tea and lunch provided. Enjoy a glass of wine and our local game while camped near some of New Zealand remotest alpine landscapes. Suitable for all fitness levels. full day, $160 per person, minimum 2 persons.
Lake Tekapo Fishing
Fishing and Photo Expedition.
Half day spin fishing expedition on the shores of Lake Tekapo with refreshments. Enjoy the stunning mountain views while casting your line into the blue waters of the Lake. Rods and Licence provided. This trip is also suitable for the novice fisherman, and for the more experienced there is enough water to catch some of our lovely Tekapo Rainbow or Brown Trout. 4 hours $95 per person, includes licence, Mornings or afternoons/evenings by arrangement.
Full day fishing expedition available, explore both sides of the lake Tekapo and Lake Alexandrina. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepares with local game or fish on the shores of peaceful lake Alexandrina. Min. 6hours $180 per person, includes licence, Mornings or afternoons/evenings by arrangement.
Small Game Hunting Expedition
Half day, circa 4 hours hunting Hares,Rabbits, and Wallaby's. Explore the pine forests, river landscapes, and open Tussock country around Tekapo with a small caliber rifle in your hand. There is plenty to see and hunt. The open Tussock rolling to the Mountains provide a spectacular back drop to your hunting aspirations. Gun provided and no Licence required as you hunt with an experienced "small game hunter" One on one hunts, just you and your guide ensure the best chances of success. half day expedition with refreshments $160.

Big Game Hunting Expedition, from dawn till dusk.Thar, Chamois, and Deer can be found throughout the Mackenzie. Hunt the slopes of the McCauley, the mighty Godly River or the Lake Ohau area. Reasonable standard of fitness required. One day hunts or camp out for multiple nights.
Full day hunts with an experienced mountain guide. Full equipment supplied, including guns, ammunition, and meals. Maximum 2 persons. $300 per person, per day. Just tell us what your interested in hunting and we will work out an itinerary. We can also arrange Helicopter drop off in high alpine terrain, to save the legs and allow more time for the hunt itself. Ask us for a quote.
