Cottages
All the separate, self-contained, secluded cottages are situated near the lake and the shops. There is now direct access to the village centre over a spectacular new footbridge. Our accommodation is nestled in a large garden, amidst mature trees… a rarity in Lake Tekapo. Most have a rural outlook and a degree of privacy not obtainable in a hotel or a motel. The cottages are self-contained and sleep 2-8 persons. Full linen is supplied and all the cottages have sundecks to relax on. If you are looking for older style high-country accommodation with modern amenities in the Mackenzie High Country, you have come to the right place. Free wireless internet and parking to all guests.
The Potting Shed
The Potting Shed cottage sleeps 2. This is more of a studio/cabin layout with a double bed and a bathroom. TV, toaster and jug are supplied (no other cooking facilities). This cottage is small but warm and comfortable. It has its own private bathroom. There are dishes supplied for takeaways or a light salad-type meal. Free wireless internet and flatscreen TV.
East Wing Cottage
The East Wing Cottage sleeps 4. This cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and 1 with 2 single beds. A fully equipped kitchen, lounge, new bathroom and a large sun deck with good views of the mountains and rural scenery. It is private and comfortable. A heat pump and air-conditioning ensure a comfortable ambient temperature. Free wireless internet and flatscreen TV.
Rowan Cottage
The Rowan Cottage sleeps 6. This cottage has 1 bedroom with a double bed, 1 small bedroom with a single bed, and there are two sleepouts attached to the sun deck. The sleepouts are just like small bedrooms; 1 has 2 single beds, the other 1 double bed. Both sleepouts are carpeted and heated. The cottage is stand-alone, has a separate entrance, parking, and is very private. There is a small equipped kitchen, bathroom, lounge with an open fire, plus heaters. Heat pump and air-conditioning ensure a comfortable ambient temperature. Free wireless internet and flatscreen TV.
Tui Studio Cottage
The Tui Studio Cottage sleeps 2 persons. This cottage has a queen-size bed and is comfortable and warm with a heat pump and air-conditioning to keep you comfortable. It also has a small kitchenette. Ideal if you want somewhere to get away from it all for a couple of days without paying an arm and a leg. The cottage is stand-alone, has a separate entrance and parking. The Honeymoon Suite
The Honeymoon Suite sleeps 2. This is a new large 1-bedroom cottage, fully self-contained with a queen-size bed, an all new bathroom, washing facilities, kitchen, living area and large balcony overlooking rural scenes and mountain views. Comfortably furnished, the tasteful decor, privacy and the large peaceful sun deck overlooking the reserve and mountains make this cottage the ideal getaway for couples looking for that special place. The Pines
The Pines sleeps 6. Includes 2 good-sized bedrooms, both with an en suite, queen-size beds and views, joined in the middle with a kitchen. Good sound insulation and the kitchen between the 2 units provide for peace and privacy. Well insulated and heated, the 2 units offer a comfortable stay for 1 or multiple nights. Mina Cottage
The Mina Cottage sleeps 6. Similar to the Pines above, this cottage includes 2 good-sized bedrooms, both with an en suite, queen-size beds and views, joined in the middle with a kitchen. Good sound insulation and the kitchen between the 2 units provide for peace and privacy. Well insulated and heated, the 2 units offer a comfortable stay for 1 or multiple nights. Little Birch
Little Birch sleeps 4. Situated in a park-like setting on a unique, quiet street, this cottage is 2-minutes walk to the church and the shops. Little Birch has 2 bedrooms, both with an en suite (two bathrooms), and joined in the middle with a beautiful new kitchen/dinning-living area. 1 bedroom has a queen-size bed, the other 2 single beds. Well insulated and heated, this cosy, architecturally designed house offers a comfortable stay for 1 or multiple nights. Free wireless internet and flatscreen TV with free-to-air channels. We also manage a number of well-appointed and comfortable holiday homes. All the homes are fully furnished and all linen, towels, etc. are supplied.
The Birch
The Birch sleeps up to 7. This is a 3-bedroom family holiday home situated in a quiet tree-lined cul-de-sac. There is 1 double room, a king-size room and a triple room. The large open-plan kitchen, living, dining area has modern amenities, flatscreen TV with Freeview and SKY, a DVD player, iPod dock and free unlimited WiFi. The modern kitchen boasts a dishwasher, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and lots of space to prepare great meals. The updated bathroom has a bath, separate shower and a separate toilet.
It is located a very short 2-minute walk from the Church of the Good Shepherd and 3-minute walk to the village over the Lake Tekapo footbridge. Being self-contained and stand-alone, there is plenty of parking in this secluded but handy-to-all-amenities home. Sheltered from the wind but sunny with a large sun deck, it is the perfect place for the family. Silver Birch is kept nice and warm with a heat pump/air-conditioning unit and 2 heaters for the bedrooms. There is also a nice sunny deck and grassed area for outdoor relaxing and fun!

Booking Policies
Please read the information below about Lake Tekapo Cottages and how to check-in:
Check-in
- To collect the keys to your cottage, unit or holiday home, and pay in full, please come to the Lake Tekapo Cottages office at 12 Sealy Street, Lake Tekapo. View on Map
- Our check-in office is open from 2pm–8pm. If you expect to arrive later, please call us on (03) 680 6865 to make late check-in arrangements.
- If possible, please provide an estimated time of arrival and a New Zealand contact phone number when you make your booking.
- If your booking is made within 12 hours of arrival, please contact the office on (03) 680 6865 to ensure we are expecting you.
Check-out
- Check-out is before 10am on the day of your departure.
- Please return the key to the office or place it in the key box.
Payment
- We accept cash (NZD), EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Additional charges
- Guests may incur a cleaning surcharge of $50-$100 if the home is left in an excessively untidy state.
- If there is evidence of smoking in the house you will be charged an additional night's stay.
- If damage to property through carelessness or negligence is evident after your stay we will charge the cost of repair or replacement back to your credit card. Please report any damage or breakages immediately or on your departure.
Late arrivals and guest numbers
- If your expected arrival time is after 8pm, please inform us so we can make arrangements for you to collect your key.
- Please inform us of additional guests prior to check-in (including all children). We will amend your tariff accordingly.
Cleaning
- Cleaning and linen is provided for all bookings. However, we ask that on the day of your departure that you wash, dry and put away your dishes leaving the kitchen tidy (or load and start the dishwasher if installed).
- Please place allrubbish in bags ready for disposal.
Changes to your booking
- Please note: Availability of changes are not guaranteed. Please call us on (03) 680 6865 to discuss possible changes.
Cancellation
- Cancellations made more than 7 days before your arrival do not incur a cancellation fee.
- If cancelled with less than 7 days before your arrival you may be charged in full for the first night's stay.
- In case of a no-show, you will be charged in full for the total number of nights booked.
- Please be advised that there is no refund during a multiple-day booking if you decide to shorten your stay after you have checked in.

Information
Extra persons: $40 per person, $25 for children. The first child under 5 is free of charge.
Booking: Please provide us with your Mastercard or Visa card details when booking.
Refunds: If you need a refund of all or part of your deposit due to a cancellation, this can be made per cheque or via internet banking. Deposits and payments made with credit cards will be refunded by an online credit through the original card processing company. A waiting period for the refund of 10 days is mandatory to avoid credit card fraud.
Breakfasts and other meals: Are available on request, cooked breakfast $22 per person. Continental breakfasts available at $18 per person.
Location: We are about a 2-minute walk from the lake (very close to the Church of the Good Shepherd) and about a 3-5-minute walk to shops and restaurants.
Washing and ironing: If you require washing to be done we can arrange this for a further $5 per drying machine.
FAQs
Are the cottages close to the lake and shops? Do they have a view of the lake?
Lake Tekapo Cottages are situated about a 2-minute walk from the Church of the Good Shepard near the lake shore, and about 3-4 minutes walk to the village shops. They have close mountain views and are private, sheltered and quiet. We are lucky to be surrounded by older trees, some of them, close by, are more than 100 years old, probably the oldest trees in Tekapo and the Mackenzie Basin.
What are the cottages like?
The Potting Shed, East Wing and Rowan are older-style accommodation, with extensive modernisations in the kitchen and bathroom areas. They are comfortable with everything you need. For more detail see the Cottages section above. The newer Honeymoon Suite, Tui and Pines cottages are more upmarket, have large sun decks and are ideal for that weekend away from it all.
Do we have to bring our own linen?
No, everything you need is here. The cottages are clean and tidy and the beds comfortable.
Do you serve meals?
Breakfasts are available on request; home-cooked breakfast are $22 per person, continental breakfasts are $18 each.
What is the cancellation policy?
For all cancellations within 10 days of the arrival date, there will be a cancellation charge of the first booked night in full. Cancellations within 24 hours of the arrival date or a "no show" will result in a 100% cancellation charge of all nights booked.
Is Aorangi Holiday Home located with the rest of the complex?
No, the Aorangi Holiday Home is a 2-minute drive away from the main complex.

How long does it take to drive to Mount Cook from Tekapo and other places?
It will take about 1 hour and 20 minutes to drive to Mt Cook, Christchurch is about 3 hours using the Inland Scenic Route, and Queenstown takes about 2.5 hours.
Directions
See the map on the Location page. From State Highway 8 at the Tekapo bridge turn into Pioneer Drive. Travel 100 metres toward the Church of the Good Shepherd and turn right into Sealy Street. Lake Tekapo Cottages is the last property on the right. Drive up the short gravel driveway and you will find the parking area and reception.
